Artist Bio

The first drawing that Kendal McMaster ever did was of a cow. In chalk. On the sidewalk. At the time, she didn’t know what the word for cow was. When describing the piece to her mother, she pointed, and said “mooo” and that got the point across. Now, twenty two years later, she is still making art. Born in Denver, Kendal grew up drawing what was around her. From architecture to landscapes to the flowers on her lawn, Kendal has done it all, and she has the technical skills to show for it. Kendal has been in at least one art class (usually more) every semester of school since before middle school and she is now majoring in studio art at Colorado College. She doesn’t plan on stopping her art career anytime soon.

To Kendal, art is a tool that communicates the beauty of a scene with a history that is slowly fading. She believes in appreciating the world because it is finite. Surrounded by the beautiful rocky mountains, her current focus is learning how to use her distinctive style to communicate and preserve the still beauty of nature even as it fades away. While the world is changing, Kendal’s current dream is to be able to remind her audience that the world is finite and must be cherished because one day there might be nothing left.
